How to create a timeless country bathroom design with personality.
How to create a timeless country bathroom design with personality.
Think of a classic country bathroom, and you think of natural materials and rustic textures like wood and stone, vintage touches in aged taps and antique mirrors, and soft, muted colours. But as these beautiful country bathrooms show, there’s no one way to design a space in a leafy surround. And sometimes, adding a modern twist to traditional features can make a huge difference.

Just an hour north of Toronto lies a cabin that designer Ashley Montgomery bought and renovated for weekend getaways. In keeping with its surroundings, this country-style master bathroom is organic and quiet, while a spa-like tiled floor and freestanding bath evoke a space of pure indulgence. Bathroom necessities are out of sight behind rich olive-hued cabinet doors; our Bakes Cabinet Handle in our satin antique satin lacquered (SAS) finish seamlessly blends in.
At this family residence in Indianapolis, designer Whittney Parkinson blends thoughtful, natural materials to create a country master bathroom that is at once traditional and timeless, and ready for 21st-century living. Vintage-style chairs and wall sconces add a rustic element, while the dark oak and marble vanity has a classic, elegant feel, complemented by our Latchford Cabinet Knob in our aged brass (BEL) finish.

Founder of Colette Interiors, Trish Lynn, perfectly showcases how utilising a bespoke approach to bathroom vanity cabinetry can create an impactful yet timeless focal point of a country bathroom that is as beauty as it is functional. Both of these originally designed vanity units feature our Cotswold ball knob in our dark bronze (DBZ) finish.
Country bathrooms with freestanding baths

Design by Jean Stoffer Design | Photography by John Stoffer | Features our Cotswold Cabinet Handles and Queslett Cabinet Knobs in our dark bronze (DBZ) finish.
A freestanding bath is a typical feature of country bathrooms, and this primary bathroom in East Grand Rapids, Michigan, shows how it can become a striking focal point of the whole space. Jean Stoffer Design put this freestanding bath in the pride of place, with a modern aged-brass light fixture above, making it the hero of the bathroom. Polished nickel taps add a touch of modern elegance to the bath, while more vintage-inspired elements are found in our Cotswold Cabinet Handles and Queslett Cabinet Knobs in our dark bronze (DBZ) finish on the vanity drawers.
Design by Kate Marker Interiors | Features our Queslett Cabinet Knobs in our aged brass (BEL) finish.
In Barrington, Illinois, Kate Marker wanted to create a true sanctuary in this country-style en-suite. Similar to the design above, a freestanding bath sits in the middle of the bathroom to create a striking feature. Two oak vanities with marble sinks stand on either side, bringing in a mix of textures. Our Queslett Cabinet Knobs in our aged brass (BEL) finish on the vanity doors add a timeless touch, while the pendant lighting and wall sconces provide that all-important warmth.

Design by Sims Hilditch | Photography by Mike Garlick | Features our Cotswold Ball Cabinet Knob in our polished chrome plate (PCP) finish.
For designer Jennifer Hunter’s family home in Lichfield County, Connecticut, classic design elements met bold choices to create a contemporary, yet timeless, country bathroom design. The oak and marble double vanity with our Cotswold Bun Cabinet Knob in our aged brass (BEL) finish is a pure classic. As for the twist? The black-and-white checkerboard floor, green and ivory walls, and the art deco-inspired mirrors bring plenty of personality.
With Victorian family homes, it’s classic furniture, antiques, and fixtures that appear as though they’ve been there for years that come to mind. But that doesn’t mean there can’t be a playful twist, as this Aberdeenshire home by Sims Hilditch shows. In this contemporary country bathroom, a bold yellow vanity with our Cotswold Ball Cabinet Knob in our polished chrome plate (PCP) finish adds plenty of personality to the space.

It’s not always easy to make a small space interesting. But as Jean Stoffer shows in this country-style powder room in East Grand Rapids, Michigan, a lot can be done with statement wallpaper. The print contrasts the simple white vanity with our Cotswold Cupboard Latch in our aged brass (BEL) finish perfectly.

A calming, serene space that takes a traditional design feature of country bathrooms, only with a more contemporary spin: wood panelling on the walls. Arleana Hodnett (aka Roseywood Interiors) chose a neutral colour palette for this country master bathroom in Shropshire, complementing the colour and texture of the walls with stone herringbone flooring, and a scalloped-edged oak vanity with our Cotswold Cabinet Handle in our fine English antique (FEA) finish.
Design by Studio LBI | Features our Cotswold Ball Cabinet Knobs in aged brass (BEL) finish.
For a Victorian house renovation, Glasgow-based Studio LBI set out to create a home that “feels dressed up, but not overly fussy.” In the country-style en-suite, this was achieved through soft neutrals, textures, and a mix of traditional and modern. The wood-panelled walls are a signature country touch, while the marble flooring and vanity add elegance and refinement. Finally, warmth was added through considered light fixtures, brass tapware, and complementary door knobs on the cabinetry; our Cotswold Ball Cabinet Knobs in our aged brass (BEL) finish.

Feature lighting can create a big impact, even in a small space like this country en-suite bathroom in a home in Wilmette, Illinois. Lindsey Goddard Interiors chose multiple shapes, finishes and, at times, playful pieces, like the glass petal pendant light. Using neutral tones and refined materials such as oak, marble, and brass, as seen in the tapware and our Carlton Cabinet Knobs in our polished brass unlacquered (PBUL) finish, the overall effect is cohesive and considered, while showcasing plenty of personality.
